Both Gracee and Gage always have sore throats and end up on antibiotics all the time. I had had it with it so Tj and I took them to an ENT in December and told him that we just wanted there tonsils OUT! Of course he agreeded and said they would take their adnoids out too, but he was booked until January. So the wait was on. Finally yesterday the 21st they both went in at 7:00am for surgery. They took us back to get ready for surgery and gave them hospital nightgowns to wear and socks. Gracee didn't mind and changed right away. Gage on the other hand didnt want to wear a dress and started crying. I was already nervous and when he started crying I felt so bad but knew it had to be done. We finally got him in a gown. Then they came in and explained to them what would happen. They were so good with them and made them feel not so scared and me too!! Gage was scheduled first but because he is such a nice brother said his sister could go first (yeah right). Gracee got up on the bed and away she went. She was so brave I couldnt believe her. She did awesome. Gage, Tj and I had to wait around for awhile for Gracee to get done and some other little boy before us. They had this cute little lady that came and talked with Gage and showed him pictures of the OR room and the mask that he would put on to make him go to sleep. She also gave them cute blankets that people make and donate for the kids. By the time it was his turn he had settled down and felt comfortable with the staff and got on the bed and down the hall he went. With no crying!! I couldnt believe that he wasn't screeming for me but I was glad. Then we went into recovery where Gracee was ,she was just laying there with her oxygen mask on by herself. She only cried for a minute and then she was fine. She had some problems right after with breathing since she has asthma so they had to give her a treatment and some oxygen. She ate slushies and had some sprite and was feeling good. Then came Gage! He was screaming all the way down the hall. I felt so bad as soon as he got to our room he started crying more and wanted me to hold him. They helped me get him out of his bed and thats when he saw the IV. That just pissed him off more. Then came the good stuff. Pain meds!! He laid in my arms and cried that his throat hurt. Finally after about 30 min he calmed down. Tj helped me put him back in his bed. He started to feel much better and was eating slushies and drinking. First they took out Gracee's IV and she got dressed. then we waited for awhile longer then it was Gage's turn. Finally aobut 11:30 we got to go home. They are doing so good and I swear the loratab and codiene do the opposite to both of them. Oh well at least there's no pain. It was a long day and I'm glad its over. Now for recovery!!
